CentralWorld

Bangkok’s giant city-centre mall with fashion, tech, food halls, cinema, ice rink and year-round events on the Ratchaprasong plaza.

CentralWorld is Bangkok’s city-centre living room: a huge mall wrapped around one of the busiest plazas at the Ratchaprasong intersection. Over 500 stores spread across seven levels, linked to hotels, offices and an outdoor square that keeps filling with Christmas trees, countdown stages and seasonal installations.

Walkways connect the mall directly to BTS Siam and Chit Lom, so you arrive above the traffic and step straight into fashion, tech, cafés and Central’s department store. It’s the natural answer when someone asks, “Where can I find almost everything in one place?”

Bangkok’s city-centre plaza

CentralWorld isn’t just a building – it anchors the Ratchaprasong crossroads. Outside, the square hosts lighting ceremonies, Christmas markets, New Year’s Eve countdowns, concerts and big brand activations. Around summer you’ll often see Pride installations; in high season the whole frontage turns into a photo backdrop.

Because it sits between Siam and Chit Lom, skywalks link CentralWorld to neighbouring malls and the BTS. You can move from Siam Paragon or Gaysorn Village straight into CentralWorld without touching the road – handy on rainy days and in peak traffic.

Shopping & key anchors

CentralWorld is designed as a one-stop lifestyle mall: fashion, tech, books, sport and home all under one roof. A few anchors are worth calling out.

Central Department Store

At the core of the complex sits Central Department Store (formerly ZEN), the flagship branch of the Thai department-store chain. It runs over several floors with fashion, beauty, homeware and seasonal pop-ups, and is often where big collaborations and local designer capsules appear first.

Apple Central World & tech

On the plaza side you’ll find Apple Central World, the brand’s second Thai flagship, opening directly onto the square. Inside the mall, large format stores like PowerBuy x B2S Think Space, IT City and other electronics chains handle everything from laptops to camera gear and gaming accessories.

Fashion, streetwear & lifestyle

CentralWorld leans heavily into fashion. You’ll find global anchors like Uniqlo, H&M, Zara, Adidas Brand Center, Nike, plus Thai labels and multi-brand boutiques scattered across the fashion floors. Bags, shoes and accessories fill in the gaps so you can do an entire wardrobe refresh wall-to-wall.

Books, home & specialist stores

For slower browsing, Kinokuniya and B2S cover books, magazines and stationery, while Tops Food Hall functions as a premium supermarket with imported products. Home and furniture shoppers can work their way through design and lifestyle chains, including flagship branches of Thai home stores and international brands.

Entertainment, food & hangout spots

CentralWorld is just as strong on “what to do” as on “what to buy”. On the upper floors, SF World Cinema offers a 15-screen multiplex that often hosts premieres and festivals. Nearby, The Rink is an indoor ice arena where locals bring kids, teens practice spins and visitors cool down for an hour between errands.

Food is everywhere: cafés and dessert bars like After You are built into the walkways; the restaurant levels stack Thai, Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Western options side by side; and Central Food Hall plus the food-court zones solve quick lunches or early dinners when you don’t want to think too hard.

Outside, the Groove zone focuses on bars and restaurants with later hours, so it’s easy to slide from daytime shopping into drinks and dinner without leaving the complex.
