Perched high on the 64th floor of State Tower, Sky Bar Lebua is where Bangkok does pure spectacle. You step out onto a terrace wrapped around the golden dome, look down at the Chao Phraya far below and instantly understand why this place has become the city’s most photographed rooftop.
From the moment you arrive, Sky Bar feels more like a set piece than a simple bar. Marble steps lead onto the terrace, the golden dome glows above you and the circular bar pulses with changing colours in the centre.
Around the edge, glass balustrades open up to some of the best river views in the city – boats sliding along the Chao Phraya, ribbons of traffic on Silom and towers stretching into the distance. The crowd is a mix of hotel guests, well-dressed locals and film fans recreating their favourite scenes, all holding cocktails and phones pointed at the skyline.
This is not a shy bar: it’s loud, bright and happily dramatic. If you want that “I’m really in Bangkok” feeling in one single frame, this is where you get it.
The drink that made the bar famous is the Hangovertini, originally created for the cast of The Hangover Part II and now a signature on the menu – a bright, aromatic cocktail built on green tea, honey and local flavours. Beyond that, the list runs through classics and house signatures poured into heavy glassware, all firmly in the premium price bracket.
Sky Bar is drinks-only; food is handled by neighbouring restaurants within The Dome at lebua such as Sirocco. There is a smart-casual dress code – no shorts, flip-flops or sportswear – and security at the entrance keep the flow onto the terrace controlled, so at busy times you may wait a moment before stepping out.
Service is efficient and used to handling big crowds: staff guide guests to photo spots, manage bar counters and still find time to talk you through the menu if you want something off the beaten path.
