The Crystal Grill House

Glasshouse steak and seafood restaurant at Asiatique, with riverfront domes, deck tables and front-row views of Sirimahannop and the skyline.

The Crystal Grill House takes the classic steakhouse idea and wraps it in glass. Right on the waterside at Asiatique The Riverfront, a row of curved, golden-framed glasshouses and open-air tables stretches along the pier, with Sirimahannop moored just a few steps away. Inside, chandeliers hang over marble-topped tables, the bar gleams in polished metal and greenery softens the edges, so the whole place feels like a string of miniature conservatories glowing against the river. The kitchen focuses on serious grill-house cooking – prime cuts of beef, well-sourced seafood and generous sides – all kissed by a Josper charcoal-wood-fired grill that adds a distinct smoky edge.

Glasshouse domes, city lights and a riverside stage

The approach runs straight through Asiatique’s funfair energy: Ferris wheel, string lights, market stalls and crowds. As you walk further along the water, the noise softens, the river opens up and The Crystal Grill House appears at the far end of the pier. From the outside it looks almost like a piece of jewellery: glass pavilions catching the last light, reflections of the water on the panes, and the rigging of Sirimahannop rising behind them.

Step inside one of the private dining domes and the atmosphere flips from open boardwalk to cocooned salon. You’re at a marble-topped table, surrounded by soft upholstery, greenery and warm, flattering light, with the city outside framed like a film still. Each glasshouse leans into a slightly different mood inspired by historic trading nations – hints of the Middle East here, Japan there – but always with the same essentials: big windows onto the river and the feeling that this is your little room for the night. On cooler evenings or windy days it’s an easy choice for birthdays, date nights or any “let’s dress up a bit” moment.

If you prefer to feel the river breeze, the outer deck tables along the rail are the sweet spot. You sit in the first row for views of the water, Sirimahannop, the Ferris wheel and the passing boats. The open kitchen and Josper grill stay constantly in the background: you see flames flare up, hear the hiss as a rib-eye hits the grate and catch the scent of smoke every time a server passes with a new plate. The menu matches that mood – serious prime cuts like Black Opal Wagyu, grilled octopus, seafood platters and steakhouse comfort staples from Caesar salad to truffle fries – more modern international than old-school, but with a clear grill-first heart.

  • Best for
One of the strongest picks for a “big night out” at Asiatique – last night in town, birthdays or visitors you want to impress.
  • Where to sit
Glasshouse domes for small celebrations and photos; rail-side tables for sunset and river breeze; bar zone if you mainly want cocktails plus a steak to share.
  • When to go
Book for 17:30–18:30 to catch sunset, blue hour and the domes lit up after dark; weekends and domes should always be reserved in advance.
  • Getting there
Easiest route is BTS Saphan Taksin plus the free Asiatique shuttle boat, then a short walk along the boardwalk to the very end of the pier.
  • Who it suits (and who not)
Perfect if you like polished, international grill vibes; less ideal if you’re after a simple, low-key Thai riverside dinner on a tight budget.
